How did God use LaGrange Baptist Church’s annual Vacation Bible School this year, to both meet needs of orphans and kids in the foster care system at the same time exposing our kids to the needs of kids at risk?  The “suitcases for kids” suitcases for kidscollection during VBS was a success.  We collected 29 suitcases, 21 duffels, 17 backpacks, and four big boxes of toiletries for kids in foster care.  The items were donated to New Beginnings Family Services for distribution to foster kids who need them.

Also at VBS, the Ahlers family (15 kids, 8 adopted from Liberia) were invited to share with the children during Missions on Tuesday. See the attached LINK to hear Lightning Ahlers’ story Lightning Ahlersabout his adoption from Liberia, as well as to learn more about his family who live in Pendleton, KY. Madeline Davis from New Beginnings shared with the children about the foster care program on Thursday.  We heard positive feedback from children and parents about both.  Hopefully, seeds were planted in the next generation.

During VBS we also learned of two families who saw the Just ONE booth and felt confirmed that God was calling them to adopt.  We are grateful that the booth is remaining in the lobby of the church building.  One of the families is planning to place membership at LBC.

Finally, over $2000 was collected for foreign missions. A team from LBC will be visiting RDI Cambodia from July 16-27 and will apply the funds to construction of a water collection system connected with a school there.
